Thredbo Diggings Camping area

This is a very large campsite with plenty of space for roaming about, and interesting things to explore. The campsite sits on the bank of the Swampy Plain River. There are plenty of toilets scattered around (with access for people in wheelchairs). There are several stone shelters, historic huts, and walking tracks in the area. The individual campsites are not marked out, but there are plenty of spots to choose from. Vehicle entry fee will be higher during peak season (winter).

This is a lovely campsite beside the river with some great gold mining history. The large flat campsite sits between the highway and the river on the river flats. There is space for caravans and lots of open areas for tents. The river adds a lovely feel to the area and helps make up for the occasional bit of traffic on the highway. There are some walking tracks and old buildings and historic stuff to explore. The caves are a short drive away and well worth a visit. Otherwise kick back and enjoy the water bubbling past.

This campground spreads out over a large area (especially when the dam level is low) and can host over 100 campsites. The camping areas are un-marked so just find a suitable spot. The car park at the top has toilets, hand wash basin and space for motor homes. The lower sections of the camping area are more open with a few trees and garbage bins.

The is a pleasant campsite deep in the Thredbo River valley, and right beside the river. Car entry fee will be higher in peak winter period ($27).

This large campsite is on the bank of Jounama Creek, not far from the Tumut 3 power station. The campsite is split into three main areas. The built-up area is near the wheelchair-accessible toilet, with space for caravans and easy access to the creek. A little further downstream (the clearing you passed on the way in) is a great area for tents and camper trailers, with a short walk to the toilet. Further down the road, there is more camping, not suitable for caravans or trailers, and with no facilities. There is plenty to explore in the area, including walks along the creek and playing in the (cold) water. Talbingo has some offerings with some info on the power station, a 9-hole golf course, a small shopping center (supermarket open 7 days), country club, service station and more.

The is a large campsite the spans both sides of the Barry Way. There are 4 toilet blocks (with access for people in wheelchairs, although you will need to negotiate a gravel pathway to get to the loo). The campsite is just north-west of the junction of the Pinch and Snowy Rivers, a very pleasant spot. There are no marked campsites, but there is plenty of room. Some campsites are very close to the road.

This is a fairly simple campsite in a lovely valley. The creek is enough to get water from and too get wet in, but no real swimming. There is some walking in the area. Car entry fee will be higher in peak winter period.

The campsite is a simple roadside camping area with a picnic table and garbage bins (back at the main road). Not a bad place to stay if traveling through the area, but being next to the road, there is some traffic noise.

A relaxed campsite with a few facilities, not far from Blowering Dam. There is comfortably space for about 20 separate campsites in the area, although they are not marked out.

This campsite sits on the flats just north of the junction of the Snowy and Jacobs Rivers. The pleasant campsite has access to Jacobs River, and requires a little more effort to walk down to the Snowy. The campsites are unmarked but there is a fair bit of room.

The campsite overlooks the Snowy River in the valley. The campsite has some information signs about the border, a toilet, picnic tables and access to the river. There are no formal individual campsite markings, but there is plenty of room for about 20 campsites.

This campsite is designed for people to camp with horses. There is a ramp to help horse out of trailers. The campsite sits fairly high above the plain, providing great views across the flat valley. There is room for about 15 individual campsites, although there are no formal markings for individual campsites. There is a pit toilet but limited facilities beyond that. The local creek usually has water, although not deep enough for swimming.

AKA Wares Yards Horse camp, this campsite is suitable for people and their horses. There is a pit loo and plenty of open area. Several gum tree groves provide some respite from the open plain. A small creek meanders past the campsite and usually has water. There are no formally marked campsites, but there is plenty of room.

The campsite is just next to the highway and is accessed via a short dirt driveway. There is plenty of room for a caravan or motor home. The facilities include two toilets, fire pits, picnic tables and garbage bins. The campsites are not marked out, but there is choice and even a few spots where you can't see the road. There is a road leading down the hill to the dam.

This is a very basic and dusty campsite with fairly good access to the Snowy River. The campsite has a picnic table and a flat open area.

This smaller and basic campsite is perched above the Snowy River. There is a steep bank but access to the river from the campsite.

The campsite is in the dry thick scrub between Blowering Dam and the Snowy Highway. The campsites are not set, so just find a comfortable area - there would easily be space for 15 campsites. There is a dirt road leading down to the dam, and a few tracks in the area to explore.

There is a scattering of gum trees and picnic tables and plenty of flat ground for tents and caravans. There is a pit toilet and garbage bins provided as well as some steel fire pits. A dirt road leads down to the edge of Blowering Dam.

Good spot for a fishing weekend

A basic but pleasant campsite and a sense of humour in the name. The campsite is fairly small compared to others in the area, but provides great access to the beach beside the Snowy River.
